If you’re an organisation based in Motherwell then you could massively benefit from our manual handling courses for business, aimed at instructors and employees alike. Manual handling training courses are designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely lift, move and handle objects in the workplace.
One of the main benefits of manual handling training is that it can help to reduce the risk of injury to individuals. Manual handling injuries can be caused by improper lifting techniques, heavy loads, awkward postures, and repetitive tasks. By learning proper lifting techniques and safe handling practices, individuals can reduce the risk of injury, meaning individuals are less likely to need time off work due to injury or illness. Proper manual handling techniques can help individuals to work more efficiently and effectively, which can lead to increased productivity in the workplace.
My skill as an Osteopath combined with my CPD-accreditation in risk assessment means I am best positioned to create bespoke manual handling courses to suit the specific requirements of individuals in your business. Many workplaces are subject to manual handling regulations, and employers are required to ensure that their employees are trained in safe manual handling techniques. By taking a manual handling training course, individuals can ensure that they are in compliance with these regulations.
I offer 3 manual handling training courses for businesses, please click the 3 packages below:

Reduce the risk of manual handling injury by reducing the effort of manual handling tasks.
Data from the HSE says that injuries at work are on the decline but no fewer people are in pain. Manual Handling (MH) practises account for over a third of all workplace injuries. The current teaching is clearly not working. There is no best practise for MH, just as there is no best posture for sitting or standing. We each have our own individuality and training should reflect this.
My methods will teach you the principles of moving with a load, how to make your movement behaviour more efficient and change your attitude to manual handling risk.
As a registered Osteopath and member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health (ACPOHE), I have expert knowledge in kinematic analysis and anatomy, which is integral to effective manual handling training. Both are statutorily registered institutions and I am bound by the professional standards of both. I also hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
In a nutshell, manual handling injuries are caused when the effort (force) of a task outstrips the resilience of the person to withstand that force at any given time. This can be a one-off injury or an accumulation of repetitive injuries. To reduce this likelihood there are 3 options:
1. Reduce the effort of the task by better ergonomics and task design;
2. Reduce the effort of the task with more efficient movement behaviour;
3. Increase the resilience of the person performing the task.
Number 1 is achieved with good risk assessment and work place modifications.
It is a legal requirement to assess all manual handling tasks and reduce the risk of workplace injury to a minimum.
Allow me to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of your workplace and working practices. Or train your own in-house assessors:

Manual handling courses for businesses’ in Motherwell can provide individuals with the confidence they need to safely lift and handle objects in the workplace. By learning proper lifting techniques and safe handling practices, individuals can feel more confident in their ability to perform their job. My training in manual handling in Motherwell is straightforward advice demonstrated in an engaging way so you can learn how to identify potential hazards and how to take steps to prevent accidents and incidents in the workplace.
Some jobs, such as construction, manufacturing, or healthcare, require workers to move heavy objects or patients. In some cases, there may not be suitable equipment or technology available to assist with lifting and moving objects. Purchasing equipment or hiring additional workers to assist with manual handling can be expensive, and some companies may opt to rely on manual handling instead.
Manual handling training prevents workplace injuries, while promoting safe and efficient practices for a healthier and happier workforce. It’s widely acknowledged that a healthy workforce benefits from both productivity and staff retention.
Insufficiency in manual handling training accounts for more than half of workplace injuries. Manual handling the wrong way can lead to serious injuries, including strains, sprains, and even fractures. Proper training can help prevent these injuries and reduce absenteeism, ensuring a more productive workforce. Plus, when workers feel safe and confident in their ability to perform their job, they are more likely to have higher morale and job satisfaction.
My manual handling courses in Motherwell cover occupational health sessions which review and assist in the management of neck, shoulder and back problems. The osteopathy sessions are personalised, and provide the freedom to gain tailored advice related directly to any ailments in question.
